During Hunting Season
Deer, bear, and turkey hunting season is open from mid-October through early January in this area.
Gunshots in the distance surrounding the house may occasionally be heard. This is normal and there is no cause for alarm. There is no risk to your safety around the house. You should never hear gunshots after dark. Especially on Saturdays, shots may be heard at dawn.
Walking in the woods is highly discouraged at this time. If you want to explore on foot:
Walk on paved roads such as Gilbert Station Road or in the neighborhood across the street.
Drive 3 miles to Preddy Creek Trails Park. Their 16 miles of multi-use trails on 571 acres at this county park is safe, convenient, and is a lovely asset to the local community. Recommended! (No motorized vehicles permitted on trails; hiking, biking, and horses only.)
